Born in 1878.Son of James Paul Smith-Steinmetz,Fernwoodlea ,Fife.Educated at Stonyhurst College,Lancashire.He married Dorothy Mary MacCabe.He died in 1936 at Wing's Cottage,Kemerton.

His issue:-

i) Dorothy Mary Gerard-Smith(1919-1999) married Anthony Paul.

ii) Ronald James Gerard-Smith(1921-1992) married Elizabeth ?.

iii)Andrew John Bruce Gerard-Smith (1924-1945).

iv) Helen Margaret Gerard-Smith(1925-1950).
